RSPCA Mobile is a minimal virtual network that piggyback on EE. They’re run by the animal charity the RSPCA but their prices aren’t the best. We have a UK coverage map here.

You an also compare their network coverage in relation to that of other networks. We’d also suggest comparing their pricing against other PAYG mobile networks.

No, I used to be able to access my own email through the phone’s internet connection.
I can’t remember when I started with them, but I have a feeling it was 2011 or 2012.
The info with the handset said it was locked when I got it.

No warning whatsoever. I did always wonder if, being a charity, it would be worth the RSPCA’s while to keep this going. The phone (also from the RSPCA) will not send or receive calls or texts, or even tell me how much balance I have left (it’s PAYG). It is showing quite a good signal strength, which seems odd.
It can still get the internet via my home wi-fi, but the settings for email say that it can’t connect to the mail server.
I got this phone from the RSPCA with their network on it, and now am thinking of getting it unlocked, but online unlocking sites can’t find some setting that they need, which presumably shop unlocking places wouldn’t find either. Never mind. I’ve had a few good years with it, and it was for a good cause.

It seems that they were one of several small MVNOs that popped up around the same time (several of which had very similar websites and pricing schemes). We assumed that the whole thing was managed for a small commission fee and that the risk was negligible. Even with just a few customers, all the expenses could be outsourced to a bulk provider meaning profit, even if it was very low, was guaranteed.

Did they give you an email account too? When did you start with RSPCA Mobile?

And the handset might already be unlocked. Try another SIM in it?

Do you know if the RSPCA network is still in operation? I am with it but it seems to have stopped working and my phone says ‘ calls from this number are barred’.

Looks like they’ve ceased trading as the website is down. Did they give any warning? Can you call the number or send it texts? You might have luck calling the RSPCA Head Office or trying to speak to someone at EE.
