Think it’s not possible to get unlimited free minutes on PAYG? Even though it’s much harder to get unlimited calls than unlimited texts, there are actually several options. This page describes the best ways to get unlimited calls on PAYG phones in the UK.
Giffgaff

TalkMobile
TalkMobile might be a bit of a cheat to include here but it does have a really good deal if you need unlimited minutes. For £30.64 per month, you can subscribe to their SIM-only rolling contract SIMpleunlimited deal. This includes in the price unlimited UK minutes and unlimited texts. The only issue (apart from this technically being a monthly contract) is that the “unlimited” call allowance is subject to a fair use policy of 3000 minutes per monthly bill cycle and each call can also only have a maximum length of 60 minutes. Standard call rates apply to calls exceeding 60 minutes. Still, it’s easily one of the best unlimited calls deals going.

O2
O2 also has some pretty good deals for unlimited free calls on PAYG once you get a free SIM. If you choose their “Favourite Place” plan you get unlimited free minutes to standard UK landlines and O2 mobiles from your chosen postcode when you top-up £30 a month. The “O2 Unlimited” tariff gives you unlimited calls to all O2 mobiles as long as you top-up at least £10.

T-Mobile
T-Mobile’s offer for free calls isn’t as good but once you’ve received your free SIM you can use their “Weekend Talk” reward – if you top-up £10 between Monday to Friday and text “weekend talk” to 441, you get free unlimited calls to other T-Mobile customers all weekend.

Orange
PAYG Orange customers can’t get unlimited free calls along with their free SIM. However, if you call 450, you can nominate three “Magic Numbers” which allows you to talk to friends and family on Orange for only 20p for an hour. Not quite free but still super cheap.

Vodafone
If you have a free SIM from Vodafone you can also get free calls with the £30 Freedom Freebie. As well as giving you unlimited free calls you’ll also get unlimited texts plus a bonus of 1GB of mobile data.

Delight Mobile
Delight Mobile offer customers free calls (and unlimited texts) to any Delight Mobile number every time you top-up. Adding £5 of credit entitles you to a week of free calls and texts. £10 give your two weeks and £20 or more topped up automatically provides you with 4 weeks of free Delight to Delight calls and texts.

LycaMobile
For international calls, LycaMobile seems to have a good deal on its LycaMobile Plus tariff. It claims that all calls to other LycaMobile Plus numbers are completely free. However, this only applies to foreign numbers, not UK ones. Even worse, there’s a 15p connection charge for every call and calls a limited to only 30 minutes before they are charged at the standard rate. So it seems that it’s not exactly “unlimited free calls”. But still, calls to international mobiles at 0.5p/minute with LycaMobile is still great value.

OVIVO Mobile
An interesting choice is the new network OVIVO Mobile. They certainly have one of the most enticing tariffs available as you get calls and texts completely free each month. You also get a free data allowance in exchange for watching adverts.
OVIVO will also give you completely free calls at all times to other OVIVO users. This is a great way to make as much calls as you like for free. The only catch is that they’ll automatically disconnect your call if you take longer than an hour but you can always just call back again.

I’m with virgin mobile. They give data free messaging on WhatsApp. monthly spending cap. data rollovers. Unlimited 60 minutes virgin mobile to virgin mobile.
Isn’t there any provider that offers calls and texts free to any network?.
I need a PAYG that I can use once in a blue moon that doesn’t expire at the end of a month. Is there such a ting? I dont want to pay monthly fees for something I will rarely use.
Giffgaff? They say they reserve the right to expire after 12 months but we’ve had SIMs for several years that are still working.
The information about Delight Mobile “free” calls to other Delight users is confusing. The listing above suggests it depends on amount and frequency of top up (£5 gives a week of free calls, £10/2 weeks, £20/4weeks). Yet the Delight website seems to suggest that free Delight-to-Delight calls are unlimited and do not depend on topping up. Who should I believe?
We can’t guarantee they are right but best to take from the horse’s mouth.
How about FreedomPop. It’s a new virtual network which only started last year. They offer 200 texts, minutes, and MBs for free. But they do charge for extras.
T-mobile offer unlimited T-mobile calls and text with a five day pass for £3.
Ovivo gives free Ovivo to Ovivo calls and texts, not to mention free data.
There is a 60 minute maximum call duration limit but we’ll add them to the list.
ioscorpio you can’t mention Ovivo here as GiffGaff don’t like to think that they are not the cheapest. Been with Ovivo for 6 months now and it has cost me a great big 35p that I spent testing MMS. Still have my GG sim though just in case Ovivo go belly up.

Good point Fred – thanks for mentioning that. It’s true but we didn’t discuss it as we felt that it’s extremely unlikely many people would spend less than £3.33 a month on their phone. We also think £10 every 3 months is a small price to pay for the free calls and texts.
Still, we probably should have pointed it out in the article because there probably are some people it would affect. Cheers.
