How do I get my PAC code?
Getting your PAC code is as simple as calling up your existing mobile network and asking for it. They must give it to you either immediately over the phone or within two hours by SMS. Unfortunately, it’s not always obvious how to contact your old network to get the PAC from them. That’s why we’re compiled the following list of instructions to get your PAC from your mobile network – just click on the links below to see the phone number to call to get your PAC:

network shut down without warning
Brief summary of your experience/query:
Hello , on the 15th of December 2016 i could suddenly make no more calls from my mobile . I tried today to go on the website to top up but website no longer exists . I subsequently found our that the network shut down without warning and i missed the Pac code request day by 2 days . I have had this number for nearly 15 years and it would be a disaster to loose it . Can you help please ? Thank you . Marius .
Have you spoken to Ofcom?
Any tips on what to do when they just don’t provide the Pac code? Network is freedom pop and I first requested online, they kept making excuses and have now stopped responding to me. Today I called, the advisor kept me on the phone for 35 mins and sounded drunk. He said he would send it to me but I still don’t have it.
Report them to Ofcom and try to call again until you get a different advisor.
I really can’t get a response from i-card. Is it possible to get a PAC code from i-card any more? thanks
They don’t respond to email or phone? Have you contacted Ofcom?
No, no response to a few emails and calls (on hold for ages then got through and they said they coudln’t hear me!). Actually we’ve decided to just have new numbers. Simpler! I-card did stop a while back so think we were lucky the credit stayed until recently.
Fair enough. But definitely report them to Ofcom to help out others…
Mobile contract cancelled by my partner. How can I get PAC code from tesco and contract still ongoing but mine switched off.
Whose name is the contract in and what does it cover?
What about mobile by sainsbury’s?
What about them?
I’m currently on EE, and a want to buy a new phone but through a third party AND I want to keep my current number. I understand I cannot currently port my number over, so in theory could I buy a pay-n-go sim from a different network, port my number over to that, and then port it back to EE?
Just keep your SIM?
My current sim is 30 day sim only plan as I have an old Iphone 4S. I want a new Iphone 6 but through EE the plans are extortionate. Through a third party I can get a new contract, a lot cheaper, and still be on EE. (sorry if I’m not explaining very well!)
Then yes, your plan will work fine.
APRIL 2015MY CONTRACT WITH T MOBILE WAS FINISHED AFTER BEING WITH THEM FOR 24 MONTHS. A WEEK BEFORE THE END OF MY CONTRACT I CALLED THEM TO GIVE PAC CODE. THEY REFUSE IT AND SAID I COULD ONLY GET MY PAC IF I COULD ASK A MONTH IN ADVANCE! I TOLD THEM WHY DO I HAVE TO GIVE THEM A MONTH NOTICE FOR A PAC CODE? THAT’S THEIR POLICY. WAS THEY RIGHT TO REFUSE ME PAC CODE? CAN I REPORT THEM TO OFF COM?
They are completely incorrect. You should contact them again.
It took me 20 mins and 2 different sales people to get mine from 3, 20 months ago.
I told them that reception was terrible where I worked and it was pointless me having a phone.
They wanted to pass me on to a technician who might be able to help me out, ”Really, I don’t think you’re going to erect a phone mast now are you!?”, my response.
After 15 or so minutes of him telling me that he wasn’t denying me this and he was trying to resolve the situation I simply interrupted him, ”You are legally obliged to supply me this, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?”
Funnily enough he gave me it, after repeating the same line 3 times.
As soon as they pick up the phone and tell you who you’re talking to, inform them that the call’s being recorded and you’d simply like your PAC code. If they give you anything else apart from your PAC code, hang up. They’ll ring you back (99% of the time). If they don’t, wait 2 hours for a text of your PAC code and ring them back, but actually record the phone conversation. Still no luck, report them.
If you then have to make another months payment, bill the company. Company HQ’s hate debt collectors turning up @ their posh buildings, it looks bad for business.
Good tip. We’ve certainly found it best to not engage and to simply repeat their legal obligations.
That didn’t work for us!
What was their response?
We’ve just been on the phone, twice, for well over an hour to Three requesting a pac code. they keep saying they’ll give it to us in a minute then putting us on hold for ten minutes with very clashing music. I tried the ‘You are legally obliged’ line several times but they kept just saying they would give it to me shortly then putting me on hold again. In the end they said they’d text it to me within two hours. That was over two hours ago. What can I do to speed them up?
Ask to escalate to a supervisor.
Just got my PAC code from 3, no problem told them reception is bad in my area, code sent within 20 minutes, no complaints.
Did you just call them?
Yes called from my mobile, didnt cost anything too!!
Could you please advise how I text Vodafone to get my PAC code?
Thank you.
Have you called their regular customer service number?
No, I just thought it would be easier to text and then on their reply have a written number that cant be misheard or forgotten.
Sorry, I don’t think they offer this option.
I tryed to call 3 and they told me that in order to get my PAC I have to pay for the remainder of my contract and it is like 500 gbp
Point out to them the Ofcom regulations as this is not true.
Have you seen this? http://mobilenetworkcomparison.org.uk/ofcom-investigates-pac-code-refusal/
I have been trying for 8 months!!! to get a pac code from orange. They say an error has occured and to give them 38 hrs to investigate. NO ONE EVER CALLS ME BACK!!!!. I have called them every 2 weeks to try and have visited orange shop 9 times to see if they can help but no.
Anyone got any ideas?
Don’t accept no for an answer. Go into the Orange shop armed with the information that they are obliged to give it over immediately. Tell them you will not accept any errors on their behalf and that you need it there and then.

I’ve tried phoning Three to get a PAC code, but it’s a recorded message and i have no idea which option will lead me to the code, I don’t know what to do!
What are the available options? And is there not a way to get through to a human in some other way?
my family mobile phone is locked… can you help?
Which network is it locked to?
2732 will not give PAC code I have tried emailing them and am keeping my fingers crossed
You should try one more time. We definitely were able to get a PAC from ASDA Mobile like this.
Crap customer service from orange. Waited over an hour for them to give me a pac code, this site is epic! helped me thanks.
Well they do have two hours to get it to you. But thanks 🙂
I have been waiting for 2 days…
Inform them that you need your PAC code immediately. The regulations state that “PACs have to be issued immediately over the phone or within a maximum of two hours by SMS”.
