4G Coverage
It may have taken a long while Ofcom and the mobile networks ever-so-slowly worked out the logistics, but 4G high-speed mobile internet access has finally hit our shores and is rapidly being rolled out across the country. As we are still in the early days at the moment, coverage is fairly sparse compared to 3G and 2G mobile services as the networks are frantically upgrading their infrastructure and hardware to be able to provide 4G services. It will also take some time for EE’s competitors to catch up with their head start.
It’s been interesting to see the strategies that each of the different networks have used both in terms of pricing and, in particular, the urban areas they have chosen to start offering super high-speed internet access to.
At the moment, only the main mobile operators are offering 4G access but we expect that the virtual operators who piggyback on their networks will soon be launching their own 4G services. Another thing to be aware of, is that there are different frequencies upon which 4G transmissions can be transmitted. If your phone doesn’t support all of them, it’s worth checking out which frequencies your particular network uses to see whether your handset will be compatible.

I live in a small village and we have brillaint 4G coverage, infact its as fast at my home broadband speed!
According to EE’s website they boast that they will have double speed 4g across greater London by June 2015. As this is only a few months away now is anyone in the greater London area getting the faster speeds yet?
I would like to point out Three does not offer 2g, this article is rubbish.
Hi. Is there 4G coverage for Lyca mobile in area code nn1 1ag? Because I got a lyca connection for myself and another one for my wife. And activated the internet bundle which works perfectly outside our apartment but not in our apartment. Any thoughts?
The O2 link via the logo goes to Orange not O2
Thanks – now sorted 🙂
hi when will 4g be available in Bracknell Berkshire on three
How has White Mobile achieved 93% 4G coverage?
Now fixed – thanks.
Hi, just thought I would point out that T Mobile and Orange do not offer 4G, you have to upgrade to EE first
No,I wouldn’t think so Emily.
Not unless the mobile mast Engineers have took out a television mast by mistake 😀
Three possibilites:
1. Interefernce from a 4G phone mast. See the website at800.tv for advice about free interference filters for your aerial. But I don’t think WsM has the potentially interfering 800MHz band 4G as yet.
2. There’s been a retune. Unlikely to lose all channels but see ukfree.tv or freeview.co.uk for info – I think last Mendip retune was in 2013. And you should get both Mendip and Wenvoe signals (120+ channels) anyway.
3. Something broke – aerial, coax cable, set-top box or TV. Can you borrow a portable TV to try out with your aerial/STB installation? Or drag your TV/STB to a friend’s house to try it out on their aerial?
Calling out an engineer should be your last resort as you may be able to buy a set-top box for less.
Ive lost my tele signal completely ive go no tv channels do 4g have anything to do with this. I live in weston super mare.
What digital receiver do you have?
Hey, that’s a clever way of thkniing about it.
Next to no 4G coverage my friend.
Glasgow has citywide coverage now on the 3 network.Great stuff, but South Lanarkshire where I live has none.sigh.
None? Or no 4G?
Hi, This webpage is out of date, any chance on updating it?
Which bit needs changing?
It’s just been updated again today so you can be sure that the information is the latest available.
